Traveling to Austria
Today we leave lovely Munich and cross the border into Austria, where we’ll check into our hotel and lhave limited walking, prior to tomorrow’s trek around Salzburg and…wait for it…everything MOZART.
As about 2/3 of us are, er, somewhat “elderly”, this promises to be a more relaxing day in terms of physical exertion.
First views of Austria, on the bus from Munich to Salzburg. 29 November. The Alps are beyond description.
After a tour of a dairy (which l didn’t attend, since I’m not much interested in cows, and was pretty tired), we had a sample of cheeses made from the milk of said beasts.
Then on the bus to Salzburg. Just enough time to check into our hotel and walk to the Restaurant Herzl for dinner.
“Wiener schnitzel (what else?) with parsley potatoes, salad, and a choice of Gruner Veltliner (white), or Zweigelt (red) wines. I had one of each. Some sort of chocolate pastry for dessert.
Salzburg at Christmas…in fact all of Deutschland and Osterreich (Austria), is magical. So many lights and festive shop windows. Plan to shop tomorrow before we head out for Vienna on Thursday.
Heigh ho, the glamorous life.
1st stop in Austria..a brewery! Trumper Pils, which we will be tasting at lunch.
