The Wagner in Vermont Festival Comes To A Close

The Wagner in Vermont Festival came to a close on Saturday, August 27, at the Latchis Theatre in Brattleboro, VT, with a stunning production of “Die Walkure.”

I find it difficult to adequately express my gratitude to these two artists – Maestro Hugh Keelan and his wife Soprano Jenna Ray – who managed the unbelievable feat of producing not one but TWO of Wagner’s Ring operas (“Das Rheingold” and “Die Walkure”) and making them performance-ready in a matter of about 1 week of rehearsals.

Of course, many many months of casting, coaching, fundraising, and planning preceded the Festival, with help from artists and others – but this idea had been planted many months in the making prior to the Festival week, which resulted in something totally spectacular. I am humbled and grateful to have been a part of this project, having the opportunity to sing the role of Erda in the two performances on Aug. 22 and 26.

Here are Jenna and Hugh taking a bow after the Aug. 26 “Die Walkure” performance.
