Student Spotlight – February 8, 2020 Studio Class
What a glorious Studio/Performance Class on Saturday, Feb. 8! Eight of my talented students performed for each other with the fantastic collaborative pianist Charlie Blood at the piano.
The singers were, left to right, Susanne Graham Tartarilla, Anne Orio, Shayna Carp, Rae Pizzi, Natalie Barnaby; first row Janet Janet Mailing Wittenberg, Victoria Coleand Jenny Rainville Masana.
The second photo is me working with Jenny on “Amour, viens aider” from Samson et Dalila of Saint-Seans.
Next is Janet Mailing Wittenberg singing “Et exultavit” from Bach’s Magnificat (Janet will sing this and other beautiful songs on a solo recital this spring – “watch this space” for info).
Next is a photo of me with my students. Bravi tutti!
Next is professional soprano and teacher Victoria Cole nailing “Dove sono”.
Next, the lovely Rae Pizzi, a freshman at Londonderry High School, singing “Practically Perfect” from Mary Poppins (Rae will sing the lead role of that show this spring with Peacock Players).
Next is Natalie Barnaby who performed “Smanie implacabli” from Cosi fan tutte…watch this one…she is destined for stardom.
Susanne Graham Tartarilla sang a beautiful rendition of Weill’s “It Never Was You.”
Ugh – I can’t download Anne Orio‘s lovely rendition of “Baby Mine” from the Disney movie “Dumbo”. She had us all in tears (stupid technology!)
Finally, a photo of me ending the afternoon with “Vocal Modesty” of Pasatieri…wherein a singer takes herself entirely TOO seriously!
I am so gratified and proud of these beautiful singers who stood up proudly to express their love of singing and artistry. I just love these classes!
